MEPS-Minimum Energy Performance Standards were created twenty years ago and is responsible for the development of the star rating system for technologies such as air conditioners, dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers, washing machines, televisions and cars. Pool pumps have now been adopted into this standard.

The Star Rating Index (SRI) system provides consumers with the ability to compare similarly sized pumps and allow them to make informed decisions on what pump is suitable for their swimming pool requirements and how much it is going to cost to run.
